For my winter art show collection I made bowls and plates with the cohesive element being the color. I chose to use white and blue glaze together because they remind me of the ocean, like the tide rolling on to the white sand. I made these pieces by throwing the clay on the wheel. Next I waited for each piece to be “leather hard” so I could trim a foot on the bottom and clean up the outside. Once trimmed, my pieces went into the kiln for the bisque firing, which vitrified the clay, making it permanent and ready for glaze. When glazing I dipped half of the piece into white glaze and then painted three layers of blue glaze on the other half. When viewing my pieces I hope you feel relaxed like you would on a warm summer beach day.For my winter art show collection I made bowls and plates with the cohesive element being the color.
